- Under 14
Cannot possess a firearm except as a gun bearer, member of a rifle club, cadet corps, or at a shooting gallery or miniature range. It is unlawful to make a gift to, lend to or part with a firearm to someone of this age.
- Under 15
Cannot have an assembled shotgun except under the supervision of a person aged 21 years or over or when securely covered so that it cannot be fired. Cannot receive a shotgun as a gift. Can possess cartridges but not buy them or receive them as a gift.
- Under 18
Cannot purchase or hire a shotgun or firearm but if 14 or over may be given a firearm as a gift and if 15 or over may similarly acquire a shotgun providing the appropriate certificate has been granted.
