CHIEF CONSTABLE'S EXPENSES

Class Definition:

This class of information refers to the Chief Constable’s travel and hospitality expenses.

Travel expenses are reimbursed where expense has been necessarily incurred whilst exercising official duties.

Hospitality is extended when it facilitates the policing business or is considered desirable as a matter of courtesy and protocol.

Hotel accommodation is booked where an overnight stay is necessary due to the location and time of the meeting or function.

Expenses incurred as a result of carrying out duties relating to the Chief Constable’s national portfolios are funded through external agencies such as ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers), SOCA (Serious Organised Crime Agency) and the Home Office. The Chief Constable currently holds two national portfolios. He is the ACPO Lead for Criminal Use of Firearms and the UK Lead for the G8 Law Enforcement Group.
