If you have been the victim of a racially or religiously motivated incident or have witnessed an incident:
- Always report incidents to the police or a reporting centre.
- If possible, immediately write down all that happened during the crime or incident.
- Write down the time, place, description of offender, words used, injuries etc.
- Leave any evidence untouched, e.g. broken glass, weapons, graffiti, clothes etc.
- If there are any witnesses to the attack/incident ask them for their names and addresses. Ask them to write down all that they saw and heard. Make sure that you pass these details on to the police.
- If it helps, contact a friend or neighbour for support and reassurance.
- Keep all the notes and information you have collected in a safe place.
