VIP was inaugurated on 6 October 2003 following 18 months collaboration with criminal justice practitioners in Warwickshire.

VIP brings together all of Warwickshire's' CJ agencies with staff from various agencies housed within the unit (as highlighted in WHAT IS VIP above).

VIP was the precursor to the national No Witness No Justice (NWNJ) implementation of Witness Care Units. VIP became the model to which the NWNJ Project worked with many of the VIP processes and ideas integrated within the national model.
