WHAT DOES VIP DO?

What does VIP do?

VIP offers a quality premium service to victims and witnesses involved in criminal cases. It is a free and confidential service for any victim or witness wishing to be regularly informed of the state of the case they are involved in.

The service also supports the needs of victims and witnesses. Some of this support involves arranging, in liaison with CPS and the courts, Special Measures - the way in which a witness might give their evidence. This might be by live TV link, or behind screens within the court etc.

Support comes in many guises. Witnesses might need assistance in getting to court, especially if they are travelling from abroad. VIP makes the arrangements, organising travel and accommodation, after appropriate liaison with CPS and any other partner agency.

Victim Support within VIP provides a confidential service that assists many witnesses who come with all sorts of problems.

For further information of the various individual staff and their responsibilities, please enter the VIP webpage under I need help or advice on the force website.
