Do I have to give any details of myself?

When someone contacts Crimestoppers charity they remain completely anonymous. Nothing is taken to identify the caller – Crimestoppers only want the details of the person they are giving information about.

Can you trace my call?

Crimestoppers does not have caller display or the function to do 1471.

How can I get a reward?

A caller is entitled to a reward if the information they pass leads to someone being arrested and charged.

How much are the rewards?

Rewards range from £100 to £1,000 dependent on the information which is supplied, what property is recovered, the amount of drugs seized and other factors. The local Committee raises the reward money.

Will I have to give my name to claim a reward?

Callers are given a code number, when they ring with information. That code number is quoted in order to receive the cash through a bank.

How soon will the information I give be acted on?

We pass on all information to the Police who will then take it from there, but for various reasons action may not always be taken immediately.

I am calling from my mobile, will be charged for the call?

Some mobile phone providers will charge for the call. If you do not want this to happen call on a landline or telephone kiosk – your call is free. Most major network providers do not display the Crimestoppers name on itemised bills, so, you can remain anonymous within your own family. Calls go through to the 24/7 Crimestoppers National call bureau which can answer calls in 170 languages within 30 seconds.
