Protection of Life

Young Drivers PosterOn average in Warwickshire each year of all persons under the age of 16 injured on our roads, a third are either pedestrians or pedal cyclists. 20% of all casualties on our roads are between the ages of 16 and 21 and of these two thirds are drivers or riders of motor vehicles.

National Statistics

  • 34 children aged 0-11 were killed or seriously injured every week on the roads.
  • Road related death is the single biggest cause of accidental death for 12-16 year olds.
  • 6 out of 10 teenagers have either been in or know someone at school who has been injured in a crash or has had a near miss.
  • Statistics show you're most at risk of having an accident in the two years or so after you pass your test - one in five newly qualified drivers have a crash within a year.

Please support our communities and help to protect them by obeying and enforcing traffic law and by educating and encouraging young road users to take extra care on the roads.
