At Pathfinder you will be introduced to the essential driving skills and knowledge needed to enjoy a safe and long driving career.
You’ll learn to control and manoeuvre a car. You’ll be driving your own family car accompanied by someone you know with support and guidance from a dedicated team of qualified Driving Instructors. Driving takes place in a safe, controlled, but realistic environment away from the public highway. At Pathfinder you also get an introduction to advanced driving theory and basic vehicle maintenance, and a feel for the risks, dangers and responsibilities that come with driving.
By the end of Pathfinder’s 5 day programme we expect you to be driving in a confident, assured and responsible manner, and be well on your way to reaching the standard required to pass a driving test.
The driving school is run by U17 Drivers Pathfinder Ltd, an Educational Trust formed by the custodians of the Under 17 Car Club. The Club has taught more than 3,000 11-16 year olds to drive over the last 30 years, including the late Richard Burns (World Rally Champion 2001).

The Benefits
Reduced risk of crashing
Too many drivers crash during their first few years behind the wheel. Pathfinder explains why and gives clear guidance on how crashes can be avoided. Young people trained by Pathfinder instructors have gone on to be involved in significantly fewer collisions than their peers.

Pathfinder gives you a head start so that when you reach 17 you should need fewer lessons before taking your test.

You attend on 5 days. These are either 25 October or 26 October (there is a split first day), and 27 October, and 30 October to 1 November.
