Inside Justice Week

Depending on the crime community sentences may be passed as an alternative to custody. They offer the chance for offenders to tackle the causes of their behaviour and modify the way that they behave, helping them to lead productive lives at the end of their sentence. Community sentences make great demands on those that undertake them. Types of community sentence include:

• Community Rehabilitation Orders
• Community Punishment Orders
• Community Rehabilitation & Punishment Orders
• Drug Treatment & Testing Orders

If an offender fails to comply with a community sentence they will be resentenced, which can result in them being sent to prison.
