INTRODUCING THE PROBATION SERVICE

Warwickshire Probation Area of the National Probation Service aims to protect the public and reduce reoffending. The Service provides the courts with reports which make proposals regarding suitable sentences, having taken into consideration the risks posed by the offender.

Warwickshire Probation also supervises offenders on community sentences and on licence following release from prison. The Service provides about 2,000 reports per year for the courts and at any time supervises about 1,400 people in the community. Warwickshire Probation works with offenders to prevent reoffending through specially designed programmes dealing with employment, training and education, drug treatment and accommodation.
