To find out if your area has a Neighbourhood Watch scheme contact your local police station. If you do not have a Neighbourhood Watch scheme in your area consider setting one up.
- They will tell you if your street is covered by a scheme.
- If it is not then they will advise you on how to set one up.
- You will need to ask your neighbours if they also want to set up a scheme, this might be via a questionnaire or a local meeting. If your neighbours agree then the police will register you as an official scheme.
- They will also supply crime prevention literature that you can distribute to the residents in your street.
- They will supply you with Neighbourhood Watch window stickers.
- Free street signs are also available.
- There are local Area Associations and a County Neighbourhood Watch Association that can help you and give advice. They have a wealth of experience that you can draw upon.
