Working in Partnership to Create a Safer Shopping Environment in Warwickshire

Warwickshire Retail Crime Initiative

WRCI is a Partnership arrangement to prevent and reduce crime and anti social behaviour in retail business premises in Warwickshire.

The scheme is based on a proven Partnership approach, which has been active in Warwickshire since 2001. Since then shop lifting and fraud in shops has fallen by 23%.

The Partnership members identify the most prolific individuals who are committing crime or acting in an anti social manner in their premises at target meetings.

The WRCI Retail Business Crime Advisors in conjunction with the local Police then prepare target packages.

Members are then provided with the target packages, which contain photographs of these individuals and information about the methods they use to commit crime, their behaviour and known risk factors.

The packages also contain information on individuals who have been banned under the scheme from entering member’s premises.

This is a unique information sharing arrangement.
