'Improving understanding, so road users voluntarily take care of each other...'
Warwickshire Police take the view that having an appropriately trained, engaged and informed road user community is absolutely vital. There can be no doubt that there are considerable road safety benefits in having a road user community who readily buy-in to the concept of ‘voluntary habitual compliance’ with traffic laws and who accept that safe and prudent road use greatly reduces the risk of harm and the fear of harm to themselves, their families, communities and other road users.
Whilst the E of Education is primarily the responsibility of our partner agencies, Warwickshire Police contribute to raising road safety awareness by engaging directly with road users and communities and by delivering compelling road safety awareness presentations through the Road Safety Unit. Warwickshire Police also offer BikeSafe and ScooterSafe Rider Skills Workshops.
Through the operation of Safety Cameras and Warwickshire Police enforcement activities, some drivers and riders may be offered diversionary training, such as Speed Aware Workshops, which have a very high approval rating from those attending these road safety focused courses.
