Are often the first choice of entry route for a burglar. Please take the following steps to reinforce your window security.

• Install good window locks. There are also different types of detectors for windows and doors which detect tampering and break-in at the point of entry and various types of passive infra-red detectors for installation inside rooms.
• Fit locks that are easily visible to a potential burglar, fitted if possible to the frame rather than to the window lever. Use key operated window locks and keep the keys out of sight and away from the windows.
• Even small windows can provide an entry point to the determined house breaker - a thief can get through any gap larger than a human head, some criminals even use children to gain entry via such openings.
• Louvre windows are especially vulnerable as their slats can be removed from the frame. To improve their security glue the slats in place and fit a special louvre lock.
