You don't need any formal educational qualifications to become a police officer, although you'll have to pass a range of tests and selection procedures.
As a police recruit you'll qualify for a highly attractive pay package and an excellent pension. The starting salary for the probation period is £20,397, rising to £22,770 after completion of 32 weeks initial training.
As well as police officers and volunteer special constables, policing is supported by a large number of civilian staff, whose roles range from press officers and administrators to fingerprint experts and analysts.
