Bill Holland was appointed Assistant Chief Constable to Warwickshire Police on 31st July 2006.
As Director of Protective Services he leads on all specialist crime areas of work such as major investigations and child protection, criminal intelligence, firearms and road policing. He is the National ACPO lead for Gypsies and Travellers.
He has been a serving police officer since 1980, when he joined Staffordshire Police. He worked in a range of uniformed and CID roles in Staffordshire before transferring to the Leicestershire Constabulary in 1996. He started in Leicestershire as a Detective Superintendent, responsible for leading major criminal investigations.
After a further period in charge of specialist criminal investigations, in 1999 he was appointed as the Area Commander for the Central BCU, based in Leicester. In this role he gained a depth of experience in partnership working and operational command, including firearms incidents and major public disorder.
He attended the Strategic Command Course in 2002, and at the conclusion of the Course he spent 6 months with the Home Office as part of a small team reviewing the Forensic Science Service. On returning to Leicestershire he was Head of the Corporate Development Department for a time before leading on collaboration between the 5 East Midlands forces.
