ABOUT WARWICKSHIRE POLICE

Our vision

Protecting our communities together

Warwickshire Police will use all its resources to reduce death, injury, loss and distress.

We will focus our effort against those who cause the most harm and on areas of the county most affected by crime and disorder. With communities and partners we will deliver the maximum protection possible and work to increase public trust and confidence.

Strategic Alliance with West Mercia Police

In June, Warwickshire Police Authority agreed that policing services across Herefordshire, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin, Warwickshire and Worcestershire are to be delivered more efficiently and effectively in the future following the agreement of a strategic alliance with West Mercia Police Authority.

Both West Mercia and Warwickshire Police Authorities unanimously accepted the professional recommendations of Warwickshire Chief Constable Keith Bristow and West Mercia Chief Constable David Shaw to deliver all policing services across both force areas.

A Strategic Alliance will enable both forces to meet the challenge of reducing policing budgets and provide greater operational and organisational resilience.

Both forces will retain Chief Constables who remain accountable to their Police Authorities for delivery of policing. Force identities will also be retained within an alliance and both forces and authorities are keen to stress that local policing priorities agreed with local communities and partners will continue to be addressed. Both forces will retain their separate governance and accountability arrangements (through their Police Authorities), policing budgets, assets and financial accounting arrangements, including independent financial advice.

Information about the strategic alliance will be published on the Warwickshire Police News and Information website onlinenews.warwickshire.police.uk. Use the search facility on Online News, using Strategic Alliance to find the latest information. Details will also be published on the Police Authority website www.warwickshirepa.gov.uk.

Our Priorities

Protecting people means reducing harm

  • Reducing the number of people killed on our roads or by crime
  • Reducing crimes of violence and road injuries
  • Protecting people from loss, such as having their possessions stolen
  • Protecting against distress – giving individuals and communities confidence to go about their lives without fear

Our values

We all work for the communities of Warwickshire. Together we will live our vision and values. We will:

  • Be accessible to the public, increase our visibility and contact with communities.
  • Respond to requests for assistance by providing the right service, promptly, effectively, at the first time of asking and honouring our commitments and promises.
  • Expect high standards of appearance and behaviour.
  • Treat everyone fairly with respect and dignity, maximising and promoting diversity.
  • Constantly seek opportunities to be more effective and efficient through partnership, collaboration and new ways of working.
  • Ensure that we are professional, responsive and caring, acting with integrity, being straightforward, open and honest. Develop, support and empower our people to make courageous decisions and learn from experience.
  • Set clear objectives and explicit standards for our staff, underpinned by the PDR system, recognising and rewarding good performance.
  • Put communities first by listening, understanding and responding to their needs.
  • Expect people to take personal ownership and responsibility for solving problems and delivering a quality service.
  • Lead with confidence; consistently challenge unacceptable performance, behaviour and standards within a supportive environment.
  • Proactively solve problems, plan for the future and focus activities on successful outcomes.
