From the 1st April 2008 to the 31 March 2009 the number of Police Officers dropped by 42. This is made up of officers retiring and transferring to other forces as well as the Workforce Development programme that converts Police Officer posts into Police staff posts, enabling officers to be in operational roles.

From the 1st April 2008 to the 30th September 2008 the number of Police Staff posts has increased by 68. This is mainly linked to the Workforce Development of posts where Police Officer roles have been converted to Police Staff roles in order to release warranted officers into front line policing.
