Pre read of Warwickshire Response and Pursuit Policy and TPAC terminology required prior to attendance

Aim
To provide students with knowledge and understanding of ACPO Guidelines for Management of Police Pursuits and Warwickshire Response and Pursuit Codes of Practice together with theoretical and practical understanding of tactics available

Objectives
At the end of the assessment the candidate should have shown their ability to:

  • Understand only qualified officers can undertake pursuits
  • Understand the suitability of vehicles involved in pursuits
  • Identify and explain all the tactical options available
  • Understand the Pursuit Criteria and be able to explain the significance of specific factors
  • Understand Health and Safety requirements and the importance of Dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Understand the Health and Safety requirements in relation to Stinger maintenance and deployments
  • Demonstrate a sound practical ability to perform the role of Boxing Driver from differing positions during the tactical resolution
  • Demonstrate a sound practical ability to perform role of Ground Commander by using correct commentary phraseology
  • Demonstrate an ability to deploy Stinger against a moving vehicle at 70 mph within safety brief.
