General Purpose Police Dog Initial Training Course.

Who should attend?
Officers with not less than 2 years service. Home background suitable for keeping a police dog. An affinity for dogs. Completion of assessment process including assessment on physical fitness, dog handling ability, self control, initiative and decision making.

Additional Information
Continual trainer assessment throughout the course. Final assessment by a Home Office/ACPO Accredited instructor.

Aim
This course is designed to train a novice or experienced handler with a novice dog, in respect of the curriculum laid down by the Association Of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) which includes all aspects of general Duty Police dog training.

Objectives
At the conclusion of the course Officers should be certified competent to perform operational police duties with a General Purpose Police dog.
