To give learners an awareness of the factors impacting on a person considering suicide and tactics to safely intervene

Objectives
By the end of the course the students will be able to.

  • Identify the factors that can influence a person’s decision to commit suicide
  • Describe the dangers presented by a person threatening to commit suicide
  • Identify indicators of high risk
  • Describe strategies to deal with a person threatening to commit suicide
  • Apply skills of influence and persuasion to a given scenario
