Familiarisation of the recently revised Hate Crime Policy will benefit students

Aim
To acquaint officers with updates to the Hate Crime Policy and revised Hate Crime definitions. To explore issues such as secondary victimisation, repeat victimisation, under reporting of hate crime, the Hate Crime help line and True Vision. To appreciate the benefits of community engagement, neighbourhood profiles and KINS. To understand Community Tension Monitoring and how to feed information into the weekly assessments.

By the end of the course the students will be able to.

  • Understand new hate crime definitions
  • Understand and prevent secondary victimisation
  • Recognise and tackle repeat victimisation
  • Actively promote the Hate Crime help line
  • Realise the benefits to active community engagement
  • Support the tension monitoring process with weekly returns
