Race Equality Duty and Statutory Three-Year Review
All public authorities subject to the specific duty to prepare and publish a race equality scheme are required to review their list of functions and policies, and proposed policies for relevance to the general statutory duty, every three years. This is to ensure that there are proper arrangements in place for the effective implementation of the scheme and to ensure the scheme is kept up to date and relevant to organisational business. The statutory deadline for completion of this review is 31 May 2008.
Warwickshire Police has reviewed its list of functions and policies in line with this requirement, following guidelines set out by the Commission for Racial Equality. The revised list is attached. The new list consolidates all functions and policies originally identified within the Warwickshire Police Race Equality Scheme 2005 – 2008, new functions and policies introduced during the last three years and future proposed policies. The list shows the assessed relevance of all functions and policies, prioritised in terms of high, medium and low impact. Additionally, the list shows the assessed relevance of functions and policies to the equality groupings of gender and disability. Policies and functions have been grouped in the list to show ownership of functions and policies by directorate.
It is the policy of Warwickshire Police to equality impact assess all new policies and functions and significantly revised policies and functions, and to put in place monitoring processes.
This revised list will also be published as part of the new Warwickshire Equality Scheme 2008-2011.
